1. The Beginning of a Passion
1980–1990
The Start of a Collector's Passion
The museum's founder, architect Grom Petja, began his passion for motorcycles in his twenties with the purchase of a Zundapp 250 DB, which is still in the collection today. Gradually, his personal collection expanded. Special emphasis has always been placed on Slovenian history and Slovenian brands.

2. First Exhibits and Public Presentation
September 19, 1997
Official Museum Opening
The museum opened its doors with just over 100 motorcycles – from early Puchs to rare racing legends such as Tomos, MV Agusta, Matchless, and others.

3. Collection Expansion
1998–2005
Expansion and Restoration
The museum workshop becomes essential for reviving vintage engines. Each motorcycle gets its story back – from bolt to shine. At the same time, the collection acquires rare exhibits and documents (helmets, uniforms, license plates and brochures, medals, trophies, etc.). The headquarters of the Slovenian Veteran Auto-Moto Association also opens alongside the museum (1999).

4. Special Exhibitions and Themes
2006–2015
Introduction of Special Sections
The museum expands. The collection now features 140+ motorcycles. The museum has three halls, and each thematically tells its own story – about pre-war, racing, and military motorcycles.

5. Experience Expansion
2015–2018
Development of Additional Experiences
A bed and breakfast and a pub are opened, where visitors can stay overnight or even have a meal. Groups organize their events and gatherings in the pub. The museum becomes a space where history becomes an experience for all the senses.

6. International Recognition
2018–2022
Registration on European Cultural Routes and Awards
The museum receives several international and domestic awards in European industrial and cultural heritage circles and becomes a popular destination for vintage technology enthusiasts from around the world.

2023 – Present
A Complete Experience and Invaluable Journey
Today, the museum is not just a collection – it's a living story about people who transformed motorcycling into an art form. The GROM Motorcycle Museum today features more than 150+ motorcycles, a rich collection of documents and memorabilia, a restoration workshop, Bed & Breakfast, and a souvenir shop. Every visitor leaves with in-depth knowledge of the technology and a handful of new stories connected to the past, along with an unstoppable desire to return.
